Body Centred Psychotherapist

Biodynamic Massage is concerned with the integration of mind and body. It involves a broad range of techniques that work not only at the physical level of skin, tissue, muscle and bone, but also at the more subtle level of energy flow in the body.

The way we breathe directly affects our energy levels, and our ability to let go of tension and worry. The massage therapist tunes into the rhythm of the client’s breathing to encourage a sense of expansion and pleasure. When blocked energy in the body frees up, the therapist can notice, supports and facilitate it.

Do you have Affluenza? - Monday, June 26, 2006

The term 'Affluenza' first appeared in the Washington Post back in 1979 to describe a psychological malaise that affected the young and wealthy and their depencence on materialism.

Some friends of mine brought the term onto my radar yesterday whilst having brunch with them.  BBC Radio 4 had run a feature on the condition earlier this month.  I found myself asking some searching questions.  If you think you might need inoculating from affluenza, why not take this 20 question quiz and assess your own risk?

The Universal Laws of Attraction - Thursday, October 12, 2006

Did you know that everything you have in your life right now you have attracted?  Yes, good or bad, you have attracted everything that is in it.  How you might ask?

How can that be so?

The power of your thoughts and actions magnetically attract the people, places, things and situations into your life.  Have you ever noticed that some days everything just seems to go pear shaped.  The inner dialogue you have with yourself about having gotten out of bed the wrong side becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.  Bad energy attracts more of the same.  Simple!

The universal laws of attraction are as old as time itself.  I have ready many books about the laws of prosperity and attraction and was very fortunate recentl   read more...

Being Coached by the Coaches Coach - Thursday, October 12, 2006

Like all good therapists, all good coaches have a coach.  I am no exception to that rule.

Back in July of 2003 I trained with International Author and top Life Coach Curly Martin of the Achievement Specialists.  Her book ‘The Life Coaching Handbook’ was the most sensible thing that I had read whilst studying, and once I had spoken to her, I knew that I had to work with this extra-ordinary lady.

Three years on, I am in a very privileged position to be one of Curly’s associates, helping her to deliver the Life Coaching Handbook Diploma course. Part of my associate work with The Achievement Specialists also means that I mentor a number of her gold option clients for 6 months following the LCH Dip course.

Mentoring coaches brings a different dimension to coaching.  As I h   read more...

Coping with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) - Thursday, October 12, 2006

OCD is a condition that affects 1 in 4 people in the UK.  It is considered to be one of the top 10 most debilitating mental disorders, according to the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.)

OCD is an anxiety disorder that can be very debilitating and can occur in children, adolescents and adults.  It is characterised by obsessions or compulsions, but commonly with both.  An obsession is a repetitive distressing, unwanted thought about things such as contamination or concern with order or symmetry.  A compulsion is a repetitive, distressing, unproductive behaviour, which usually temporarily reduces anxiety and involves such activities as excessive cleaning, repeated checking or counting and hoarding.  Repeated thoughts, such as fear of harming other people are common symptoms of OCD and do not mean that people are at risk of acting on these thoughts.

What do you really want?

How often have you asked yourself “what do I really want?”  Have you, like many others, just lost sight of what is really important, and got caught up in routine or doing things for others?

Many clients who seek coaching feel stuck in some way because they are unable to decide what they want.  The starting line is often a list of things that you don’t want.  Perhaps things you have been tolerating or ‘putting up with’ for a long time and finally something snaps or you grow sick and tired of being sick and tired and you realise that something is missing.  You sense that you don’t have what you really want.
